Mercedes’ Imagined E-Class EV Sedan Wants a Fight with the BMW i5

6Views

Mercedes-Benz keeps flooding 2026 with new machinery. The company already rolled out the refreshed S-Class, including the Guard and Maybach variants, while AMG pushed out the six-cylinder GLC 55 and the first fully electric VLE minivan. Updates also reached the GLE and GLE Coupe, alongside the AMG GLE and GLS flagship SUV range. Even the EQS sedan received attention.

Then came another wave. Mercedes-Benz introduced the C-Class Electric and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe replacement built around EQ Technology. The upcoming electric C-Class skips the triple axial flux motor setup mentioned for the larger AMG sedan, though the article suggests sales volume may favor the smaller model anyway. Both EVs follow the same visual direction, with oversized grilles, illuminated star graphics, large displays, and rear lighting elements filled with circular star patterns.

All of this noise around Mercedes projects pulled digital artists into the discussion, too. One creator from Turkey, known online as “uygarspots,” recently reworked the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe with styling intended to look sleeker and less connected to the growing wave of Chinese EV comparisons. Still, another idea from the same artist grabbed more attention.

The rendering imagines a future Mercedes-Benz E-Class Electric sedan. According to the concept behind the project, the model would not need much additional development because Mercedes already has most of the ingredients ready. The proposed sedan borrows the pillar-to-pillar dashboard setup from the GLC and C-Class Electric models, along with styling cues from both vehicles and the dedicated MB.EA architecture.

In this unofficial CGI interpretation, the electric E-Class adopts familiar details from Mercedes’ newer EV language. The front section receives the updated grille design and star-themed headlights, while the rear continues the brand’s recent fascination with unusual taillight graphics. The body itself stretches those ideas across proportions associated with a larger executive sedan from the mid-size premium category.

There is one missing piece. No interior renderings accompany the proposal. The article argues Mercedes would likely avoid spending much time differentiating cabin layouts anyway because the GLC and C-Class Electric interiors already appear nearly identical. That criticism slips into the discussion more than once, honestly.

At the center of the conversation sits BMW’s i5. The imagined E-Class Electric enters the scene as a potential rival, though the project exists entirely in digital form for now. Still, Mercedes has launched enough electric products recently for the idea to feel less distant than you might first expect.
