The Ferrari Amalfi is back in the spotlight again in a new photo session, this time the gorgeous sports car being highlighted with its roof down. This is the Italian-based carmaker’s second body style of the Amalfi lineup, turning the coupe into a 2+ convertible, called the Spider.

The formula Ferrari adopts is pretty basic: remove the fixed roof, add a fabric top, and keep the proportions that make the closed car work. In this case, Ferrari says the transformation from coupe to cabrio takes 13.5 seconds.

However, the new roof is not just another styling cue; Ferrari developed the car so that it would still look gorgeous with the top raised, while the lowered configuration provides it with a sharper and more extroverted stance.

The soft top itself uses five fabric layers of varying thicknesses in a sandwich-style arrangement, paired with an integrated rear window to help keep outside noise under control.

Buyers can choose from four tailored fabric colors and two technical-fabric finishes, including Tecnico Ottanio. Ferrari also says the same weave can continue onto the tonneau cover and nearby trim pieces, which is a detail, yes, but an important one on a car like this.

Aerodynamics received just as much attention. At the rear, the Amalfi Spider uses an active wing with three positions. In High Downforce mode, Ferrari says it can generate up to 243 pounds at 155 mph.

Stepping inside the cabin, one can observe the mixture of clean shapes with dramatic touches. There is also a wind deflector built in the rear-seat backrest, which can be raised by a push of a button, then folded away back into its place.

Ferrari shaped the center tunnel as a suspended aluminum bridge, while the door panels borrow cues from nautical design. The main instrument area sits within a single cockpit structure that also houses the air vents, and two extra displays handle infotainment and passenger-side functions.

As for powertrain, the Ferrari Amalfi Spider comes with the same 3.9-liter V8, twin-turbo engine also found on its hardtop sibling, developing 163 horsepower per liter. The car also shares the same drivetrain and chassis electronics found on other Ferrari models.

There is the eight-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch transmission found on the SF90 Stradale as well, while ABS evo is shared with the 296 GTB before ending up on the Purosangue or 12Cilindri.

Prices for this model in Europe start at €270,000, making it €30,000 more expensive than the standard Amalfi coupe. First deliveries will start early next year.
