Will Romanians switch to full electric?
Dacia published the first images and information about the new pre-serie concept Spring Electric, that has a range of 125 miles (200 km) and has an anticipated release date of the serie version in 2021. After some speculations in the international press, Dacia released the first official images and information about their pre-serie concept which anticipates the launch of their first electric model vehicle in their history.
Dacia sold over 55.000 vehicles in Romania in 2019 and is anticipated to at least double that number in 2020 pre-orders and 2021 sales for the electric model “Spring”. The vehicle doesn’t have the standard 5 seat configuration, instead it has a 4 seat configuration on an Urban SUV chassis smaller than the Duster. For this concept ready for production Dacia debuts with a newer light signature, the “double Y”, which is going to be found on the other Dacia models in 2021, not only the 100% electric model.
The long awaited electric model will have a length of 147 in (3.73 m) and is expected to become the “ideal day to day vehicle”. Because the car is a pre-serie concept, Dacia didn’t give any kind of hints about the pricing of the car but they announced that the “Spring is going to be the most accessible electric vehicle on market”. Right now the most accessible 100% electric model on the Romanian Market is the Skoda Citigo-e iV with a starting price of 19.900 euro (VAT Included).
The engineers working on this car confirmed that they paid extra attention to the lights and the LED lights have been implemented in 2 ways, first being a horizontal band in the superior side and 4 graphical elements integrated in the protection bumper followed by the most wanted “double Y” tail-lights. The car is going to have a 26.8 kWh battery pack that is going to power a 45 hp electric engine offering a maximum speed of 65 mph (105 km/h).
As anticipated previously, Dacia Spring will look very similar to the compact electric car Renault City K-ZE, sold in China. The 2 models will be almost identical speaking of design, allowing a reduced production cost, promising a lower market price that any other model.
The debut of the long awaited electric vehicle from Dacia is programmed at the beginning of 2021 with all the information available by the end of this year and is promised to be the cheapest electric vehicle on the entire European market.
