In the year 2020 with all the pandemic of Covid all the companies had a really hard time including BBS Wheels and not only for companies but it has been a hard year for everyone, and the financial fallout sure took a lot of companies down including in the automotive realm, while most of the automotive companies weren’t very affected, BBS Wheels sure was and it’s not the first time for the company.
This is the third time that the company is very close to bankruptcy.
The first time was in 2007 when the company went through bankruptcy and was ultimately purchased by a Belgian company. Another bankruptcy 9 years later, and as when a South Korean company called Nice Corp was one of the biggest skateholder.
Some reports say that the big Wheel manufacturer had some pending payments unable to pay, that being the main reason of bankruptcy for the BBS Company. What they really meant remains unclear.
The report was taken by Motor Illustrated and it offers a little bit more insight into the problem than any other news report. The bankruptcy filing was apparently in Germany only with the cause of fail being: halting production due to COVID-19 . In theory it feels like the company is reorganizing at the moment but for them it must be a third crucial moment in the company’s business life and as some reports say BBS will continue working normal operations for now.
We don’t know how this will affect BBS in the US but for sure it won’t be an easy task and the sales must rise pretty fast for them so the company doesn’t go bankrupt for good now.
Up to this day, BBS still remains one of the biggest OEM Wheel manufacturer and one of the most recognized of them all, their appearence in so many movies being the main reason for so much fame.
One thing is sure, the company, even in its worst times will never be let to die by the giant fan-base it has around it, and every BBS owner will consider helping the company in case of termnial bankruptcy, where there’s no coming back, but until then, things are still running smooth in the US the only rumors being in Germany and they didn’t especially turn out to be true yet.
With all that being said we can’t do anything but hope BBS Wheels doesn’t go bankrupt because it was a legend company, their wheels appearing in multiple movies across the years and having a big fan-base already set which is hard to achieve these days.
