Mercedes-Benz has announced that their new electric sedan the Mercedes EQS will have an autonomy of over 435 miles (700 km), even higher than its main rival the Tesla Model S but does that mean it will be better than its rival?

The electric alternative will be a main alternative for the S class from Mercedes and is straight up an attack to the Tesla Model S.

The EQS is equipped with 2 electric motors, one for the front, one for the back to assure All-Wheel Drive. In total, these motors top up to over 350 kW the equivalent of over 476 horsepower and the estimated acceleration time from 0 to 60 is about 4.5 seconds.

The Germans didn’t offer much detail about the concept but they said that it will be very close to the old Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS concept the battery had a capacity of 100 kWh that charges up to 350 kW and a normal charging session from 0 to 80% must take about 20 minutes.

One of the downsides of this car is the sound, or more the lack of it as they swapped a giant V8 from the S class for the 2 electric motors on the electric motors but the performance is not very affected and those electric motors along with the central battery give the EQS excellent balance.

As infotainment system the front console is very similar to the Tesla’s big touchscreen but Mercedes wants to go up a notch and give every passenger their own infotainment screen integrated into the door armrests.

The EQS design and flowing lines, maple trims and white finishes inspired by yachts but are made out of completely recycled ocean waste and recycled bottles. The color of the interior will change based on the temperature inside.

The EQS will also get the latest system and updates for autonomous driving technology, it will steer, accelerate and brake for you in order to keep you in your lane and stop you from driving into other cars.

One of the nice features are the LEDs on the tail-lights that form a rear light bar made out of 229 separate LEDs.

The German car manufacturer  wants to conquer Tesla head-front in 2021 when the car will hit both production and showrooms and will have its price floating around 100.000 USD which is not a small asking price but for the looks of this UFO the passionate people won’t look at money.
